American singer-songwriter (1932-2003). Born in Kingsland, Arkansas. Among the most influential American musicians of the 20th century, with a career spanning country, rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel. Often referred to as "the Man in Black" for his trademark stage attire.

Released 97 studio albums between Johnny Cash with His Hot and Blue Guitar (1957) and his posthumous American VI: Ain't No Grave (2010). Career peak releases include the prison concert albums At Folsom Prison (1968) and At San Quentin (1969), and the Rick Rubin-produced American Recordings series (1994-2010). Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame (1980), the Songwriters Hall of Fame (1977), and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1992).
