Mink Car

Released September 11, 2001 — release-day press essentially evaporated, and the record never quite got its due. Which is a shame, because Mink Car is one of their most consistent late-period albums: "Bangs," "Man, It's So Loud in Here," "Mink Car," "Older," "Drink!" Cleaner production than the Elektra years, but the songwriting is sharp throughout. The album that ended their cult-act era and ushered in everything afterward — the kid records, the Disney soundtracks, the proper-band-for-life phase.
