TMBG's first record with a live band — drums, bass, the whole apparatus, swapping the lo-fi drum-machine intimacy of the early albums for something messier and louder. Twenty tracks crammed into an hour, which is a lot of TMBG to absorb in one sitting; the highs ("Snail Shell," "Spy," "Subliminal," "AKA Driver") justify the sprawl. Often dismissed as the album where they stopped sounding like themselves — but listened to with fresh ears it sounds like a band figuring out who they are with new tools.
