American progressive metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1990. Lineup: Maynard James Keenan (vocals), Adam Jones (guitar), Justin Chancellor (bass, since 1995), and Danny Carey (drums). Bassist Paul D'Amour preceded Chancellor. Distinguished by extended song structures, complex time signatures, and visual art produced by Adam Jones.

Five studio albums in 33 years: Undertow (1993), Ænima (1996), Lateralus (2001), 10,000 Days (2006), and Fear Inoculum (2019). The 13-year gap before Fear Inoculum was followed by its #1 Billboard debut. Keenan also fronts A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.
