American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1969 by Lowell George (vocals/slide guitar, 1969-1979) and Bill Payne (keyboards/vocals). Other long-running members include Sam Clayton (percussion/vocals), Kenny Gradney (bass), Paul Barrere (guitar, 1972-2019, died 2019), and Richie Hayward (drums, 1969-2009, died 2010).
Released 16 studio albums between Little Feat (1971) and Sam's Place (2024). Critical peak: Dixie Chicken (1973), Feats Don't Fail Me Now (1974), The Last Record Album (1975), and Time Loves a Hero (1977). The band broke up after George's 1979 death from a heart attack and reformed in 1987 with new members.
