English rock band formed in London in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page after the breakup of the Yardbirds. Lineup: Robert Plant (vocals), Page (guitar), John Paul Jones (bass/keyboards), and John Bonham (drums). Among the most commercially successful and influential rock bands of all time, with sales exceeding 200 million albums.
Released eight studio albums in eight years: Led Zeppelin (1969), II (1969), III (1970), the untitled fourth album (1971, often called IV or ZoSo), Houses of the Holy (1973), Physical Graffiti (1975), Presence (1976), and In Through the Out Door (1979). Bonham died in September 1980; the band disbanded shortly after. Reunited briefly for the 2007 Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert with Bonham's son Jason on drums. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
