American-British rock band formed in New York City in 1976 by Mick Jones (guitar) and Ian McDonald (multi-instrumentalist, formerly of King Crimson). Vocalist Lou Gramm fronted the band from 1976 to 2003; Kelly Hansen has been the band's vocalist since 2005.

Nine studio albums between Foreigner (1977) and Can't Slow Down (2009). Commercial peak: Foreigner (1977), Double Vision (1978), Head Games (1979), 4 (1981), and Agent Provocateur (1984, featuring "I Want to Know What Love Is"). Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024.
