American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1979 (originally as Faith. No Man). Lineup: Mike Patton (vocals, 1989-1998, 2009-present), Roddy Bottum (keyboards), Billy Gould (bass), Mike Bordin (drums), and Jon Hudson (guitar, since 1996). Mike Patton replaced original vocalist Chuck Mosley in 1989.
Seven studio albums total. Their breakthrough came with The Real Thing (1989), featuring "Epic." Subsequent peaks: Angel Dust (1992), King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime (1995), and Album of the Year (1997). The band broke up in 1998 and reunited in 2009; Sol Invictus (2015) is their most recent album.
