American guitarist born December 18, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York. Best known as the lead guitarist of The Cars (1976-1988, 2010-2019). Known for his concise, melodic, instantly-identifiable lead guitar work — particularly on hits like "Just What I Needed," "Best Friend's Girl," and "Drive."
Released two solo studio albums: Change No Change (1985) and ...And (2024, the 2024 album released over 40 years later). Also worked as a member of Creedence Clearwater Revisited (a touring offshoot of CCR), the New Cars (a Todd Rundgren-fronted Cars touring lineup), and Tiki Gods (an instrumental surf-rock project). Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Cars in 2018.
