American singer, songwriter, and drummer born July 22, 1947, in Gilmer, Texas. Best known as a co-founder, drummer, and vocalist of the Eagles (1971-1980, 1994-present). Pursued a successful parallel solo career after the Eagles' 1980 dissolution.

Five solo studio albums between I Can't Stand Still (1982) and Cass County (2015). Commercial peak: Building the Perfect Beast (1984, featuring "The Boys of Summer" and "All She Wants to Do Is Dance") and The End of the Innocence (1989). Eight Grammy Awards across solo and Eagles work. Co-founded the Walden Woods Project in 1990 to preserve Henry David Thoreau's eponymous Massachusetts woodland.
