American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California in 1959 (originally as the Blue Velvets). Lineup: John Fogerty (vocals/guitar), Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitar, his brother, 1959-1971, died 1990), Stu Cook (bass), and Doug Clifford (drums). Best known as CCR. Among the most commercially successful and influential American rock bands of the late 1960s.

Seven studio albums in three years (1968-1972): Creedence Clearwater Revival (1968), Bayou Country (1969), Green River (1969), Willy and the Poor Boys (1969), Cosmo's Factory (1970), Pendulum (1970), and Mardi Gras (1972). John Fogerty wrote nearly all the material — "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Fortunate Son," "Born on the Bayou," "Have You Ever Seen the Rain," and many more. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
