American rock band formed in Sayreville, New Jersey in 1983 by vocalist Jon Bon Jovi. Classic lineup completed by Richie Sambora (lead guitar, 1983-2013), David Bryan (keyboards), Tico Torres (drums), and Alec John Such (bass, 1983-1994).
Their breakthrough came with Slippery When Wet (1986), the first hard-rock album to spawn three top-10 singles ("You Give Love a Bad Name," "Livin' on a Prayer," "Wanted Dead or Alive"). Subsequent peaks: New Jersey (1988), Keep the Faith (1992), and These Days (1995). Sambora left in 2013; replaced by Phil X. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. Sixteen studio albums total.
