Trinidadian-British singer born Leslie Sebastian Charles on January 21, 1950, in Fyzabad, Trinidad. Among the most commercially successful Black British performers of the 1980s.
Released eleven studio albums between Billy Ocean (1976) and One World (2020). Commercial peak: Suddenly (1984, featuring "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)") and Love Zone (1986, featuring "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)" and "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going"). Won the 1985 Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
