The breakthrough. "Whip It" turned Devo into an MTV phenomenon — the synth riff, the cone hats, the spastic dance. The rest of the album holds up: "Girl U Want," "Gates of Steel," the title track. Less weird than the early records, more accessible without losing the bite.
