American hardcore band formed in Danbury, Connecticut in 1985. Long-running lineup historically centered on Ray Cappo (vocals) and Porcell (Porcelli, guitar). Foundational influence on the late-1980s straight-edge and youth-crew hardcore movements; their pro-vegetarian, pro-straight-edge lyrics shaped a generation of hardcore bands.
Released two studio albums during their original run: Break Down the Walls (1986) and We're Not in This Alone (1988). The band dissolved in 1990; Cappo subsequently led the Hare Krishna-influenced Shelter while Porcell joined Judge and (later) Shelter. Youth of Today has reunited intermittently since the early 2000s.
