American glam metal band formed in Hollywood in 1984. Lineup: Jani Lane (vocals, 1984-1993, 2004-2008, died 2011), Joey Allen (guitar), Erik Turner (guitar), Jerry Dixon (bass), and Steven Sweet (drums). Among the most commercially successful Sunset Strip glam-metal acts of the late 1980s.
Six studio albums starting with Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich (1989). Commercial peak: Cherry Pie (1990, multi-platinum, featuring the title track) and Dog Eat Dog (1992). Lane departed in 1993 (replaced by Jaime St. James for Belly to Belly, 1996) and rejoined intermittently before his 2011 death from alcohol poisoning. Robert Mason has been the band's vocalist since 2008.
