Same artist as Voivod — different setlist.fm/MusicBrainz credit variation. Canadian progressive metal band formed in Jonquière, Quebec in 1982. Lineup historically centered on Michel "Away" Langevin (drums) and the late Denis "Piggy" D'Amour (guitar). Distinguished by their dissonant, chord-based riffing, sci-fi concept albums, and Away's distinctive comic-book artwork.
Fifteen studio albums between War and Pain (1984) and Synchro Anarchy (2022). Critical peak: Killing Technology (1987), Dimension Hatröss (1988), and Nothingface (1989, featuring a cover of Pink Floyd's "Astronomy Domine"). D'Amour died in 2005 of colon cancer; the band continued with Daniel "Chewy" Mongrain on guitar. Synchro Anarchy won the 2023 Juno Award for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year.
