Canadian heavy metal band formed in Jonquière, Quebec in 1982. Original lineup: Snake (Denis Bélanger, vocals), Piggy (Denis D'Amour, guitar, died 2005), Blacky (Jean-Yves Thériault, bass), and Away (Michel Langevin, drums). The band's style evolved from speed metal into a uniquely progressive, dissonant approach that influenced extreme metal broadly.
Fifteen studio albums starting with War and Pain (1984). Critical peaks include Killing Technology (1987), Dimension Hatröss (1988), and Nothingface (1989, featuring a cover of Pink Floyd's "Astronomy Domine"). Piggy died of colorectal cancer in 2005; the band continued with archived guitar parts and new guitarist Daniel Mongrain (2008-present).
