English punk rock band formed in Tooting, London in 1976. Long-running lineup centered on Charlie Harper (vocals, b. April 25, 1944). One of the longest-running first-wave UK punk bands; Harper has remained the only constant member through dozens of lineup changes.
Released over 25 studio albums between Another Kind of Blues (1979) and Reverse Engineering (2022). Critical peak: their first four LPs, Another Kind of Blues, Brand New Age (1980), Crash Course (1980, live), and Diminished Responsibility (1981). Harper announced an alphabetical series of 26 albums in the 1980s and completed it in 2022.
