American instrumental rock band formed in Tacoma, Washington in 1958 by Don Wilson (rhythm guitar, died 2022) and Bob Bogle (lead guitar/bass, died 2009). Among the best-selling instrumental rock acts in history, with over 100 million albums sold worldwide — particularly massive in Japan.
Released over 250 albums spanning surf rock, pop covers, soundtracks, and original material. Best-known recordings include "Walk, Don't Run" (1960), "Perfidia" (1960), and the theme to Hawaii Five-O (1968). The band has continued in various configurations into the 2020s. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
