American noise rock band formed in Austin, Texas in 1987 (relocated to Chicago shortly thereafter). Long-running lineup: David Yow (vocals), Duane Denison (guitar), David Wm. Sims (bass), and Mac McNeilly (drums). Distinguished by Yow's deranged on-stage persona (frequent crowd-walking, occasional brief partial nudity) and the band's foundational influence on noise rock.
Released six studio albums between Head (1990) and Blue (1998), plus the reunion album Rack (2024) following a long gap. Critical peak: Goat (1991), Liar (1992), and Down (1994). Released primarily on Touch and Go Records.
