American rock band formed in 2002 by former Doors members Ray Manzarek (keyboards, 1939-2013) and Robby Krieger (guitar). Initially with Ian Astbury (vocals, of The Cult) and Stewart Copeland (drums, of The Police). Distinguished as a continuation/touring tribute to the original Doors after Jim Morrison's 1971 death.
Drummer John Densmore and the Morrison estate sued over the use of the Doors name; the band was renamed Riders on the Storm and later Manzarek-Krieger. Manzarek died in 2013 of cancer; Krieger continues to perform as a solo artist.
