American rock band formed in Boston in 1980. Lineup: Dan Zanes (vocals/guitar), Warren Zanes (guitar/vocals, his brother), Tom Lloyd (bass, 1980-1986), and Brent "Woody" Giessmann (drums, died 2021). Style draws on roots rock, country, and bar-band rock and roll.
Four studio albums between The Longest Day (1984) and Smoking in the Fields (1989). Best-known releases include Boston, Mass. (1985) and Stand Up (1987). Dan Zanes has pursued a successful subsequent career as a children's music recording artist.
