American country/Southern rock band formed in 1971 by Charlie Daniels (1936-2020). Long-running lineup featured Charlie Daniels (vocals/fiddle/guitar) with various supporting personnel. Distinguished by their fusion of Southern rock with country and bluegrass instrumentation, and Daniels's fiddle showcases.
Released over 25 studio albums between Te John, Grease, and Wolfman (1972) and Beau Weevils (2018). Best-known recording: "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" (1979, from Million Mile Reflections, winning the Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group). Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016. Daniels died in 2020 of a hemorrhagic stroke.
