Long-running lineup: brothers Scott Avett (banjo/vocals) and Seth Avett (guitar/vocals), plus Bob Crawford (bass, since 2001) and Joe Kwon (cello, since 2007). Distinguished by their fusion of bluegrass instrumentation with punk-rock energy and indie-rock songwriting.

Released 11 studio albums between Country Was (2002) and The Avett Brothers (2024). Critical peak: I and Love and You (2009, produced by Rick Rubin), The Carpenter (2012), and Magpie and the Dandelion (2013).
