Same artist as the Four Seasons — credit variation. American rock band formed in Newark, New Jersey in 1960. Original lineup: Frankie Valli (vocals, b. 1934), Bob Gaudio (keyboards/vocals/songwriter, b. 1942), Tommy DeVito (guitar/vocals, 1928-2020), and Nick Massi (bass/vocals, 1927-2000). Distinguished by Valli's extreme falsetto and Gaudio's prolific hit songwriting.

Released over 25 studio albums starting with Sherry & 11 Others (1962). Commercial peak: a string of mid-1960s hits including "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like a Man," "Rag Doll," and "Dawn (Go Away)." Resurfaced in the 1970s with "Who Loves You" (1975) and "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)" (1975). The 2005 Broadway musical Jersey Boys dramatized the band's history. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
