American hard rock band formed in Sacramento, California in 1982 (originally as City Kidd). Long-running lineup: Jeff Keith (vocals), Frank Hannon (guitar), Tommy Skeoch (guitar, 1984-2006, 2008-2009), Brian Wheat (bass), and Troy Luccketta (drums). Often distinguished from glam-metal peers by their more straightforward blues-rock approach.
Eight studio albums starting with Mechanical Resonance (1986). Commercial peak: The Great Radio Controversy (1989, featuring "Love Song") and Five Man Acoustical Jam (1990), an early-MTV-Unplugged-era live acoustic album. The band split in 1996, reunited in 2000, and has continued recording and touring.
