British glam-rock band formed in London in 1968 (originally as the Sweetshop). Classic lineup: Brian Connolly (vocals, 1945-1997), Steve Priest (bass/vocals, 1948-2020), Andy Scott (guitar/vocals), and Mick Tucker (drums, 1947-2002). Distinguished by their string of Chinn-Chapman bubblegum-pop singles in the early 1970s before pivoting to harder-rock material.
Released over a dozen studio albums between Funny How Sweet Co-Co Can Be (1971) and Isolation Boulevard (2021). Best-known recordings: "Little Willy" (1972), "Block Buster!" (1973), "The Ballroom Blitz" (1973), "Fox on the Run" (1975), and "Love Is Like Oxygen" (1978). Competing Brian Connolly's Sweet and Andy Scott's Sweet lineups coexisted in the late 1980s and 1990s.
