0 concerts · 1 record

American blues-rock band formed in Austin, Texas in 1978. Lineup: Stevie Ray Vaughan (vocals/guitar, 1954-1990), Tommy Shannon (bass), Chris Layton (drums), and Reese Wynans (keyboards, joined 1985). Distinguished by Vaughan's virtuoso lead guitar work fusing Hendrix-style rock with Albert King-style blues.

Released five studio albums between Texas Flood (1983) and In Step (1989). Critical and commercial peaks: Texas Flood, Couldn't Stand the Weather (1984), and In Step (Grammy-winning). Vaughan died on August 27, 1990, in a helicopter crash following a concert in East Troy, Wisconsin (along with three Eric Clapton tour personnel). Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
