American instrumental rock band formed in 1984 by guitarist Steve Morse (b. July 28, 1954, Hamilton, Ohio), formerly of the Dixie Dregs and later a member of Deep Purple (1994-2022) and Flying Colors. Distinguished by Morse's fluent integration of country, jazz, classical, and rock styles into virtuoso instrumental compositions.
Released eight studio albums between The Introduction (1984) and Outstanding in Their Field (2009). Morse stepped back from Deep Purple in 2022 to focus on caring for his wife during a long illness; she died in 2022.
