British new wave band formed in London in 1979. Long-running lineup: Tony Hadley (vocals), Gary Kemp (guitar/keyboards), Martin Kemp (bass), Steve Norman (saxophone/percussion), and John Keeble (drums). Among the defining bands of the New Romantic movement of the early 1980s.
Released seven studio albums between Journeys to Glory (1981) and Once More (2009). Commercial peak: True (1983, featuring the international #1 title track and "Gold"). The Kemp brothers also pursued acting careers, including the leading roles in the Kray twins biopic The Krays (1990).
