English rock band formed in Wolverhampton in 1966. Classic lineup: Noddy Holder (vocals/guitar), Dave Hill (guitar), Jim Lea (bass), and Don Powell (drums). Distinguished by their deliberately misspelled song titles, working-class appeal, and chart dominance in early-1970s UK glam rock.
Fifteen studio albums between Beginnings (1969) and Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply (1984). Commercial peak in the UK: six #1 singles between 1971 and 1973, including "Coz I Luv You," "Take Me Bak 'Ome," "Mama Weer All Crazee Now," "Cum On Feel the Noize," and "Merry Xmas Everybody" (1973). The 1983-84 comeback as "Slade II" produced US hits "Run Runaway" and "My Oh My."
