American rock band formed in Minneapolis in 1995. Lineup: Dan Wilson (vocals/guitar), John Munson (bass), and Jacob Slichter (drums). Distinguished by Wilson's literate songwriting; he has subsequently become a major Nashville/LA songwriter for hire (co-writing Adele's "Someone Like You," the Dixie Chicks' "Not Ready to Make Nice," and others).
Released four studio albums between Great Divide (1996) and Little Bit of Sun (2023). Commercial peak: Feeling Strangely Fine (1998, featuring the ubiquitous "Closing Time"). The band reunited in 2017 after a long hiatus.
