American guitarist born November 29, 1947, in San Francisco; died March 3, 2012. Founding member of Montrose (1973-1976), the band that launched Sammy Hagar's career. Subsequently founded Gamma (1979-1983) and recorded extensively as a session and solo guitarist.
Released over a dozen solo studio albums between Open Fire (1978) and 10x10 (2017, completed posthumously). Worked as a session guitarist with Edgar Winter, the Beau Brummels, and Van Morrison among many others. Died at age 64 by suicide following a long battle with prostate cancer and depression.
