English singer-songwriter born March 1, 1944, in Hammersmith, London. Founding lead vocalist of the Who (1964-present). Distinguished by his powerful voice and stage presence, including the iconic microphone-cord twirling.
Released nine solo studio albums between Daltrey (1973) and As Long as I Have You (2018). The solo work has emphasized roots-rock and singer-songwriter material distinct from the Who's catalog. Has also pursued an acting career including the title role in Ken Russell's Tommy (1975). Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Who in 1990.
