English rock guitarist and singer born March 9, 1945, in Catford, London. Initially gained prominence as guitarist in Procol Harum (1967-1971) before launching a solo career. Distinguished by his blues-rock-meets-psychedelia approach and Hendrix-influenced lead playing.

Released over 20 studio albums starting with Twice Removed from Yesterday (1973). Commercial peak: Bridge of Sighs (1974), considered his masterwork. Longtime vocalist James Dewar (1973-1983) shaped the band's classic-era sound. Trower has continued to record and tour into the 2020s.
