American bluegrass and old-time band led by Ralph Stanley (1927-2016) after the death of his brother Carter Stanley in 1966 dissolved the Stanley Brothers. Long-running lineup historically featured Ricky Skaggs, Keith Whitley, and Larry Sparks at various points.
The Clinch Mountain Boys backed Stanley on dozens of albums from the late 1960s through Stanley's 2016 death. Stanley achieved late-career mainstream visibility through O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), his unaccompanied recording of "O Death" winning the 2002 Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
