Same artist as Queensrÿche — different character encoding. American progressive metal band formed in Bellevue, Washington in 1982. Long-running classic lineup: Geoff Tate (vocals, until 2012), Chris DeGarmo (guitar, until 1998), Michael Wilton (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass), and Scott Rockenfield (drums). Distinguished by their progressive-rock-meets-metal arrangements and Tate's operatic vocals.
Released 16 studio albums between Queensrÿche (1983) and Digital Noise Alliance (2022). Commercial peak: Operation: Mindcrime (1988, a concept album) and Empire (1990, featuring "Silent Lucidity"). Tate was fired in 2012 and there have been two competing Queensrÿche entities since (the band continues with new vocalist Todd La Torre).
