British rock band formed in London in 1994. Long-running duo of Brian Molko (vocals/guitar, American/Belgian) and Stefan Olsdal (bass/guitar, Swedish), plus various drummers (currently Steve Forrest). Distinguished by Molko's androgynous vocals and the band's pronounced glam-rock influences.
Released eight studio albums between Placebo (1996) and Never Let Me Go (2022). Commercial peak: Without You I'm Nothing (1998) and Black Market Music (2000). Best-known singles include "Pure Morning" (1998), "Every You Every Me" (1999), and "The Bitter End" (2003).
