English singer-songwriter and musician born Polly Jean Harvey on October 9, 1969, in Bridport, Dorset. Distinguished by her stylistic restlessness, ranging from raw blues-rock to polished art-pop to spoken-word-driven political work.

Commercial and critical peaks: To Bring You My Love (1995), Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea (2000), White Chalk (2007), Let England Shake (2011), and I Inside the Old Year Dying (2023). The first artist to win the Mercury Prize twice, for Stories from the City (2001) and Let England Shake (2011). Appointed MBE in 2013.
