American rock band formed in Seattle in 1990. Long-running lineup: Eddie Vedder (vocals), Stone Gossard (guitar), Mike McCready (guitar), Jeff Ament (bass), and Matt Cameron (drums, 1998-2024). Among the most commercially successful and longest-running bands to emerge from the early-1990s Seattle grunge scene.
Twelve studio albums between Ten (1991) and Dark Matter (2024). Commercial peak: Ten (diamond-certified), Vs. (1993, then the fastest-selling album in history), and Vitalogy (1994). Famously withdrew from the Ticketmaster ecosystem in the mid-1990s, testifying before Congress about anti-competitive practices. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
