Australian-British rock band formed in 1983 by Nick Cave (Australian, b. September 22, 1957) after the dissolution of the Birthday Party. Long-running collaborators include Mick Harvey (until 2009), Blixa Bargeld (until 2003), and Warren Ellis (joined 1995 in the Dirty Three, has been Cave's primary musical partner since the 2000s).
Released 18 studio albums between From Her to Eternity (1984) and Wild God (2024). Critical peaks: The Good Son (1990), Henry's Dream (1992), Murder Ballads (1996, featuring duets with Kylie Minogue and PJ Harvey), No More Shall We Part (2001), Push the Sky Away (2013), Skeleton Tree (2016, released shortly after the accidental death of Cave's 15-year-old son Arthur), and Ghosteen (2019).
