American Southern rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1971. Long-running lineup centered on Dave Hlubek (guitar, 1971-1995, died 2017). Vocalists included Danny Joe Brown (1975-1980, 1982-1996, died 2005) and Jimmy Farrar (1980-1982). Distinguished by the band's three-guitar attack and Frank Frazetta-painted album covers.

Fourteen studio albums starting with Molly Hatchet (1978). Commercial peak: Flirtin' with Disaster (1979, double-platinum) and Beatin' the Odds (1980). The band has cycled through dozens of members across its decades-long history. Only original member Phil McCormack (vocals, 1996-2019) was on board for the band's recent era; McCormack died in 2019.
