American horror punk band formed in Lodi, New Jersey in 1977. Original lineup: Glenn Danzig (vocals, 1977-1983), Jerry Only (bass, 1977-1983, 1995-present), Bobby Steele (guitar, 1978-1980), and various drummers. Pioneers of "horror punk" — punk rock with horror-movie-themed imagery, lyrics, and aesthetics, including the band's iconic skull logo and "devilock" hairstyle.
Two studio albums in the original era: Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983). Danzig fired the band in 1983 to form Samhain (later Danzig). The Misfits resumed in 1995 with Only's brother Doyle (guitar) and singer Michale Graves. The original Danzig-Only lineup reunited for limited touring starting in 2016.
