Touring band led by American bassist Mike Watt (b. December 20, 1957, Portsmouth, Virginia), formerly of Minutemen and fIREHOSE. The Black Gang accompanied Watt on his 1995 solo album Ball-Hog or Tugboat? tour, with a lineup including Nels Cline (guitar) and Stephen Hodges (drums).
Watt subsequently led various other touring configurations including the Pair of Pliers, the Secondmen, and the Missingmen. He also joined the Stooges in 2003 for their reunion lineup. Active in the broader Los Angeles improvisational and punk scenes.
