Japanese noise rock band formed in Tokyo in 1992 (officially stylized Melt-Banana). Long-running duo of Yasuko Onuki (vocals) and Ichirou Agata (guitar). Distinguished by Onuki's high-pitched yelping vocals and Agata's heavily-processed guitar work.
Nine studio albums between Speak Squeak Creak (1994) and 3+5 (2024, with new touring drummer Dani Hyde). Critical peak: Charlie (2003) and Bambi's Dilemma (2007). Frequent international touring partners include Tortoise, Mr. Bungle, and the Boredoms.
