Megadeth

American thrash metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine after his firing from Metallica. Long-running lineup centered on Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002, 2010-2021). One of the "Big Four" thrash bands alongside Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer.

Sixteen studio albums starting with Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! (1985). Commercial peak: Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? (1986), Rust in Peace (1990), Countdown to Extinction (1992), and Youthanasia (1994). Mustaine has been treated for throat cancer (2019); the band has continued to record and tour.
