American groove metal band formed in Oakland, California in 1991. Long-running lineup centered on Robb Flynn (vocals/guitar, formerly of Vio-lence). Distinguished by their thrash-metal-meets-groove approach and their longevity through the late-1990s and 2000s metalcore and nu-metal pivots.
Nine studio albums between Burn My Eyes (1994) and Of Kingdom and Crown (2022). Critical peak: Burn My Eyes (1994, one of the best-selling thrash-era debuts) and The Blackening (2007). Frequent lineup changes; Flynn is the only constant member.
