English alternative rock band formed in London in 1987. Lineup: Miki Berenyi (vocals/guitar), Emma Anderson (vocals/guitar), Phil King (bass, 1992-1996, replacing Steve Rippon), and Chris Acland (drums, died 1996). Initially associated with the British shoegazing scene before pivoting toward Britpop on their final album.
Four studio albums between Scar (1989) and Lovelife (1996). Chris Acland died by suicide in October 1996, ending the band. Lush reunited briefly in 2015-2016 for a tour and the Blind Spot EP. The 2024 album Beautiful Garbage (under the name Piroshka, a Berenyi-Anderson collaboration) explored similar territory.
