Long-running lineup: David Hidalgo (vocals/guitar/accordion), Cesar Rosas (vocals/guitar), Conrad Lozano (bass), Louie Pérez (drums/guitar), and Steve Berlin (saxophone/keyboards, since 1984). Distinguished by their fluent integration of Tex-Mex, traditional Mexican music, Tejano, blues, country, and rock.

Over 15 studio albums between Los Lobos del Este de Los Angeles (1978) and Native Sons (2021). Commercial peak: the La Bamba soundtrack (1987, featuring the band's #1 cover of Ritchie Valens's title track). Critical peaks: How Will the Wolf Survive? (1984), By the Light of the Moon (1987), and Kiko (1992). Three Grammy Awards.
